There is just so much talent around and thanks to outlets like YouTube, it allows us to discover loads of it that we would have otherwise never had the pleasure of discovering.
I was browsing around for something different to write about for the blog. I landed on this little gem; a piano and cello duet of by 2 very talented musicians performing an instrumental melody of Halo by Beyonce and Love Story by Taylor Swift. Music lovers, you have to give this a listen:
The arrangment was done by Carmen Lai who is the piano player in the video along with Columban Heo, the cello player. The two make such a great duet. To begin with, piano and cello duets have always had such an emotional impact when done well. We don’t hear enough of it in the pop genre but this version was so well done I’m hoping it will open the door to many more talented artists doing covers and originals within the cello / piano realm.
This is a great example of what I keep repeating whenever I can; a good song is a good song. Unless produced by a complete imbecile, if the core of a song is great (I’m talking down to the bare naked song; chords / melody / lyrics), it can be produced in practically any genre and sound amazing. Great songwriters are not given enough credit and instead, it all goes to the “artist” that interprets it differently when in a lot of modern day pop music examples, the singer / artist has very little to do with the end result. They are following instructions of a talented producer working with a great piece of music written by a great songwriter.
Call me a frustrated songwriter but these people don’t get enough credit for their work (and are severely underpaid) which is another reason all this ties together with the cause of this blog and my music site where we promote and educate users on how to download music legally and through trust worthy music download sites where the songwriters and artists are paid for their hard work. If you are still one of those people who download music off an illegal means like a torrent or file sharing site and software, quit it! You are ruining it for the rest of us and these song writers who instead of focusing on writing songs need to go get second jobs cause it just doesn’t pay enough to write music when everyone steals it.
A little off topic so back to the cello and piano duet. Loads of emotion, fantastic playing, great interpretation and arrangement, if you are just reading this and haven’t heard it yet, listen to it now! You won’t regret it.

I’m convinced she doesn’t lip-sync cause I’ve heard her off on a few performances. Not talking major off pitch but definitely not a recording. I think she’s one of the most talented actually. At the least, she writes her own songs which in itself is way more than I can say about 95% of these pop artists in the same genre, or at least who have been nominated in the same categories as her during award shows.
I think I’m attracted to her slightly because she’s musically talented but if she wasn’t, she wouldn’t be the girl I’d gun for at a bar necessarily but then again, that’s not her image right … She’s got that innocent little girl vibe but not the innocent that in the back of your head you’re thinking, “ya, you look innocent but I know you’re a wild one”. Just “innocent for real”. I think she’s a fantastic artist though.

Taylor Swift is a very beautiful and talented girl. I do think she shouldn’t have went on the Ellen Show because you know, Ellen is a lesbian. A hot girl with a lesbian? Not a good combination. So Taylor, stay away from the lesbian Ellen.
hehe, most unique comment I came across yet so though not a very strong argument, not directly related to the post itself, and though I disagree with ‘a hot girl with a lesbian’ being a bad combo, the comment put a smile on my face so I think it deserves a share for that. To clarify, I love Ellen and think she has one of the only talk shows I can almost sit through entirely and still be interested after an hour, and Taylor Swift, well, super talented.
