full review of the RHAPSODY music download site

Rhapsody

With the latest Napster offer, Rhapsody is no longer one of our suggested music download services for god reason.

We suggest you visit the Napster Review which offers a larger catalogue of music, unlimited access to their library of songs, free downloads, and costs 1/3 the price of Rhapsody.

Napster Review

For Rhapsody, it is a subscription based service offering you unlimited access to their +6 million song library for a monthly fee.

Overall Score: 7.2/10

Customer Service

These guys offer customer service through email, live chat, and by phone. We sent an email first with a few questions which was replied to within 24 hours. Both the live chat and phone call to their customer service went well. The agents were extremely polite and answered all of our questions thoroughly.

Ease of Use

Easy to use with a quick search feature, clean layout, artist pages, artist/album reviews, lyrics, and more.

Free Trial / Specials

There is a 14 day free trial giving you complete access to their huge library of +6 million songs and growing as if you were a paying member absolutely free for 14 days.

Selection

They have an impressive music library of +6 million tracks with a broad range of genres – rock, pop, alternative, punk, rap, hip-hop, soul, R&B, country, jazz, blues, world, reggae, classical, oldies, children, comedy and many more. The selection is always growing as new songs are added to the library every Tuesday.

Cost

Unfortunately, Napster is offering a very similar service with many more songs available and free downloads for about 1/3 the price so here's where it no longer makes sense to use the Rhapsody service.

Free members can purchase and download tracks for as low as $0.99 per track. With a paid monthly membership, you get unlimited access to millions of tracks, having the ability to listen to as many as you want whenever you want as long as you are a member. There are 2 main membership plans available:

Rhapsody Unlimited - $12.99 / month
With Rhapsody Unlimited, get unlimited access to their music library of +6 million tracks, commercial free rhapsody channels in every genre, web access from any browser to your account, and unrestricted music sharing with friends.

Rhapsody To Go - $14.99 / month
With Rhapsody To Go, get the same great features as Rhapsody Unlimited and in addition, you can transfer as many tracks from their library as you want to a compatible portable music player without having to purchase each song.

Conclusion

Ever since Best Buy aquired Napster and is offering their $5 / month deal which includes unlimited access to more songs than Rhapsody (over 8 million total), and 5 free monthly downloads, we no longer suggest considering Rhapsody as your music download service. We kept the review up as requested by our readers but as we want to only bring the top quality legal music download services to your attention. going with Rhapsody will only make you spend a lot more for no reason so be warned.
